  • Weird Situation-Please Help!

    Hi

My parents have an appointment for the interview in october in Chennai. The problem is, my father was in airforce, and now retired. During that time(1974) he visited U.S.A for 3 months for some training purpose.

After his retirement from airforce he was not given back the passport or any other documents with which he visited U.S.A. And after that he applied for a new passort and visited Syria for some bussiness trip for the company he was working for.

Now he is having this last passport with which we are going to apply. My question is

    1. In the DS-156 form should we mention that he has visited U.S.A before?

    2. If we write 'yes', it asks for date, which he doesn't remember. He also doesn't remember what type of visa he was in. So, is it okay to write 'no' in that column because he doesn't have any proof of visiting U.S? Is it okay?

Please reply me. I would really appreciate your help. Thank You.

    Regards,
    Lux

Never lie on the form or to the consular.
    On DS 156 you do not need to mention exact dates . He can answer like this;

Have you ever been to US............. Yes
    When........................ 1974
    For how long..................3 months

Have you ever been issued a US visa... Yes
    When......... 1974
    Where.........
What kind of visa...do not recall, old passport surrendered to Air force.

His 1974 visit to US will not have much bearing on his current app.
anyway. So it is wise to be truthful.
