DS-160 forms for parents
My parents and my maternal grandmother are planning to visit us in the US and I have a few questions about the DS 160 forms.
- What's passport book number? Looks like there isn't one for Indian passports. Is that correct?
- Where was the Passport/Travel Document Issued? State/Province *If shown on passport -- I don't see a State on the passports (only has the place of Issue, Mumbai in this case), does that mean I should not fill in one ?
- Purpose of Trip to US - TEMP BUSINESS PLEASURE VISITOR(B)? Specify - TOURISM/PERSONAL Travel (B2)?
- are you travelling as part of a group or organization ? I think answer to this has to be No, though each of the DS 160 forms will be making a note of the other two people as 'travel companions'? Is that correct?
- Person paying for the trip? Should I say my parents are sponsoring themselves and my maternal grandmother or is it okay if I am the sponsor?
- Also, my dad has retired from his job, but he still teaches in private coaching classes. I am not sure if this is necessary to be indicated on the form.
- My grandmother just turned 79 - would that mean we should also obtain a medical certificate from the doctor saying she's physically fit for travel? Or will that lead to extra scrutiny? (I am not sure if she needs to appear for an interview in person).
