Administrator: clarification reg my original birth certificate

Hi,

I am sponsoring my inlaws and I have one confusion reg my date of birth certificate. My in laws would be applying for B2 visa from Mumbai consulate.

As per list of documents by sponsor(given in Immi help), if you are Indian citizen, your original birth certificate(reqd only for those applying at US Consulate at Mumbai)...my question is, do they need to carry my original birth cerificate?

I think the birth certificate is used to establish the child/parent relationship if you are sponsoring your parents. If you are sponsoring your inlaws, how would your birth certificate establish a relationship?

If you are sponsoring your in-laws, provide following:

1. your marriage certificate: to prove who your wife is.
2. your wife's birth certificate: to prove your wife's parents are.

Could you also clarify, whether photocopy of wife's birth certificate will do or original is only required?
