    hi.
    i'm a 29 yrs old doctor(surgeon) and need b1 visa to take usmle step 2 exam.in form ds 156 i've mentioned that i am self financing my trip as i am into private practice since last 2 years.
    we own a nursing home ,my wife and my father both are doctors.
    my problem is that although i've bank balance but most of the property is in my fathers name.regarding finance certificate,can i show my fathers property as well??or do i need a co sponser affaidavit from my father???
    what other documents i need besides

    visa letter by ecfmg
    admit card showing exam venue,date and time
    cover letter on my letter head
    visiting card
    photo album
    marrige certificate
    finance certificate
    income tax return
    also i will be staying with my brother in law.do i need any document for that???

    Even if you do not have any property but have healthy balances ,deposits and returns, it should be fine. In your situation, your father sponsoring the
    trip will not be acceptable. Consulars expect a married surgeon to pay his own way.Nursing home registration/ownership papers will help establish your
    place of work and that it belongs in the family. You could get a letter
    of invitation from your brother-in-law inviting you to his place for the
    period of your test.
