Will my friend by refused entry at POE?

My friend is coming to see us for a few months and I realized that she may be asked to return. Please let me know what you think..

She was here for 5.5months from May-September 2004. Now she's returning for another 5 months, arriving August 3.

Do you think they'll let her in? If it's a problem, I'd rather have her pay and postpone the ticket rather than be refused entry...

You have not mentioned what visa she is entering on or is she entering
on a visa waiver program(visa not required). Did she overstay her
last visit ( beyond the date on her I-94 card)?

Sorry about that -
she's entered on a standard b2(?) multiple entry 10 yr tourist visa. Her I-94 was stamped for 6 months and she left after 5.5 months.

visit and she is returning after a reasonable interval. I think
she will have no problems.
What is your cause of worry?

I guess I was confused - I read somewhere that your stay can't excced 6 months wihin the year... But I just realized that our nephew came here in April after his 5 mothin visit being over in September04 and he had no issues.
