  • Tourist VISA Rejected for Mother-In-Law : Need Help

    Dear Friends,

My mother-in-law has attended the Visitor VISA interview at Hyderabad in December the language elected is Telugu. The interviewer is an

American and he has interviewed my mother-in-law in telugu (he spoke in telugu) and he has rejected the VISA. I got my green card in Nov, 2011. I

have sponsored my mother-in-law's Visitor VISA.

The interview questions and answers are as follows

    1. Give me all the documents that you have received from US.
    A. My mother-in-law has provided all the documents they are I-134, Bank Verification Letter, Employement Letter, W2 with Tax Returns, last 6

pay stubs, my passport copies, my wifes passport copies, My wifes Birth Certificate, Marriage Certificate, my Green Card and my wife's Green Card

    Front and Back.
    2. What is your husband doing.
    A. Working in excise department.
    3. How may kids you have.
    A. My mother-in-law has replied that she has two daughters, elder daughter is in US and younger daughter is pursuing her first year of

    engineering.
    4. What is your elder daughter's date of birth, while the interviewer is reviewing the date of birth document of my wife.
    A. My mother-in-law has answered it.
    5. What is the marriage date.
    A. She answered the question.
    6. Did your daugther has kids
    A. She said no
    7. It's four years since marriage why do they don't have kids (Strange Question as i did not noticed this type of question from any blogs).
    A. She answered it spontaneously that they have not planned.
    8. Sorry amma we can't give you VISA.
    A. My mother-in-law has requested what is the reason for rejection and the interviewer has given the 214b document.

Actually my wife is pregnant and we have informed my mother-in-law that if the interviewer ask the question whether your daughter is pregnant

then answer it as No (as i have found in the blogs the answer to this question should be no otherwise the VISA will be rejected).

My mother-in-law also was carrying with her the Bank Account Balance statement, my father-in-law's employment verification letter, Ration Card

copy, Affidavit from the lawer on the amount of property she holds it is around 10 laks, affidavit from lawer for marriage certificate (as there

was no marriage certificate for my father-in-law and mother-in-law), affidavit from the lawer for the Surname usage (her passport has different

from ration card). But the interviewer did not ask for those documents.

I have re-applied for my mother-in-laws VISA once again in Feb, request all on what to reply to the question "Why don't your daughter has

kids" next time if the interviewer ask the same question. Also please let me know what other documents do i need to submit next time to get the VISA.

We request sincerely to help us in this regards as we need help of our parents during delivery, thanks in advance for the replies to this question and sincere thanks to all.

Seems the Visa Officer was indirectly able to extract the detail from your mother-in-law that your spouse/her daughter is pregnant.

If no situation has changed significantly applying again will only show desperation and will further cement their thought that your MIL is coming to help her daughter in pregnancy thereby invite another rejection.

Yes, the denial was mainly due to the possibility of pregnancy.
      For the officer, there were two pointers to that;

      1.MIL going alone
2.No pregnancy in 4 yrs of marriage.

Please be advised that no documents will matter next time , and they will surely ask indirect or direct qs about
pregnancy. My sincere advice to you is not to let your MIL lie, because they can figure out when a person
is lying , they interview people all day .

I think you should not feel helpless if your MIL cannot get there at delivery.
It is not the end of the world.
Americans raise babies without their mothers by their side, so can your wife.
Yes, it may get expensive gettine help but that's what babies are ;; expensive
( just a touch of humor, no offence).
