visitors visa - Passport Validity 6 month Rule?

Hi,

My parents have the US visitors visa granted for 10 yrs (this was in the year 2009. But they never travelled to US) and now i have booked the tickets for them on Lufthansa, where they didn't asked for any passport related information.

now we lately realized that my dads passport is expiring on 16th April. Their travel dates are between January 16 - 18th february.

Indian travel agents are saying that there should be a 6 month validity on passport to travel to USA. but the US customs and border protection website says that India is exempted from such 6 month Rule.

Can some one Answer this question and let me know if it is OK to travel? does any one have such similar experiences?

For Indian passport holders, there is no requirement that their passport should be valid for at least 6 months before entering the U.S.

However, please keep in mind that, if plans to stay in the U.S. past April 16, Indian consulate will not renew his passport and that would cause problems for him. In that case, he would need to renew his passport first before traveling to the U.S.

It is too late to renew now but no problems, he will be admitted .
But only till April 16.
