  • nervous about B2 visa interview in London

Hi my mum and I have a b2 visa interview on wednesday in London. However Im so nervous for the both of us because of peoples stories. I am a full time student in the second year of my studies, I work part time and I rent a room during term times. we want to visit my brothers in the US in April for about 10 days. My mum is finacing the trip. My mother works full time. We both have indefinate leave to remain and we have lived in the uk for 20 years. I am 22 now.

Do you think we have a chance to be approved?
what questions might they ask us?

See, the most important thing that they look at is if you are leaving enough ties in UK to return.
If both of you are going and have no other family member in UK, you are leaving no family ties.
    That is a negative.

They will ask about your mother's job , if it is permanent and her salary is very good, it will be a
positive . You are young and single( I assume) ; that is a negative but your student status ( take proof of
enrolment and leave) can be a positive.
They will ask if you/mum have any house/property in UK. If not , it will be a negative.
They will ask about your bro in US, when he went there and his visa status.

So, it depends on the officer, negatives vs. positives, which way his discretion tells him.

    Good Luck.

thank you for your reply. We have alot of family over here in the UK. My mum works on a permanent basis and her salery is not so good but ok. All the other questions are of reasonable answers. We both rent on a long term. my brothers have full rights to stay in the US and one is a US citizen.

        In my opinion,
        it is not worth applying for a tourist visa ;

Your mother won't get it because she has a US citizen son. He can easily sponsor her for a permanent visa ( immigrant intent)
so they won't give her a tourist visa.

You won't get it because you are young, single with no permanent job in UK . Plus you are anyway a migrant to UK. So it is likely
that you will migrate to USA also with the help of your brother.

You should apply for a tourist visa only if you start working a good job, get married, buy a home in UK.

If you actually want to migrate to USA, look at other visa options not tourist visa.

            1. Even if you do not want to immigrate, they don't take your word for it.
They consider everyone a potential immigrant.
            2. I am sorry, I just considered the possibility.

Well thanks for your advice. We had the interview today and both of our visa were approved with very little questions.
