  • Please let me know whether I am eligible to get a B2 visa? Highly apprciate your help

    Hi guys,

I m new to this forum, i have gone through few of threads and posting and found it really very helpful. So I have created a new account for my self and here I am going to post my first thread.
I would like to visit US very soon as a tourist and I don't want to go through any travel agency or Visa agency who says they will help in getting visa. I would like to apply for B2 Visa myself. I really need some help in this. Below are my detaills:

    1. I am a Indian citizen.
    2. Got Indian Passport in Jan 2012 from Bangalore Passport office.
    3. Currently working for an IT company in Bangalore as an IT consultant.
    4. I have over 7 years of work experience in Bangalore with different IT companies.
    5. I live in a rented house with my family members.
    6. My annual income is 8.5 lakh.
    7. I am citi bank account holder since 2009 with 2 credit cards
    8. I have sufficient money to support my trip to US and stay 2 weeks.
    9. I just wanted to go to US to see the country and enjoy my 2 weeks vacation.
    10. This is the first time that I am travelling to a foreign country using my passport.

Please let me know is it possible for me to get a B2 visa? If not what else is required apart from above mentioned things?

    Thank you so much.

Your purpose is casual and in the back ground of your young
and single ( I assume) status with average salary and
no prior travel ouside India, chances of denial are very high.
    (they will presume immigrant intent).
To get a B1/B2 for a pleasure visit for a young , unmarried person,
1.you must be very high earning/rich with prior pleasure visits to foreign
countries , so the officer thinks you will return.
OR 2.The purpose is more concrete, like visiting a close relative ( br/sis/parents)
Going all alone to US just for tourism seems unnatural ( they will ask why
only US, why not europe/singapore etc.? )

If you can go for your IT work thru your employer, it wil be easier to
get the visa . The visa issued is the same , B1/B2 , whether it is business
    or pleasure.

Hi peace, thanks for your response. I am married and living with my wife and mom in law and my sister.
What if I visit some near by countries like Bangkok, Singapore, Nepal etc.. Will it help?
What if I go for a Europe group trip through some travel agency and after that if I apply for B1 Visa to US?
      Please suggest.

        Ok, you are married.
So, you wish to go to US alone or with your family?

            OK. For a pleasure visit to US;

First visit south east asia / europe.
But you will have to give some time interval between europe visits and US visa application.
Like if you go to europe this year, Apply for US next year.

And more important is your income, if your wife is working too , you both can show combined income
and increase the chances of the visa. If she is not working, then 8.5 L as your income may
not be good enough to qualify. So you should wait till you have better family income of
at least 1L/month. That will be fine.
