Visitor visa for my mother: Need Help

Hello,

I am planning to sponsor my mother for visitor visa. I have the following questions
1. Most of the online resources says I have to send original birth certificate. Is this true? or a xerox copy will do?
2. Both me and my husband have a joint account. The reference letter from our bank should have only my name or both of our names in it? Pls help I am confused in this regard.
3. Eventhough I am sponsoring my mother, does she have to carry her financial docs to show her financial ties to India. (She is a widow and is living with my unmarried brother). Will the VO look at her docs or just ask questions and assume things? I am curious since this is first time.
