B2 Visa Tourist- for housewife

Hi All,

I plan to visit US this year to meet my husband's cousins who is citizen/greencard holder. My husband who is an orthopedic surgeon (consultant at hospital) holds a valid B1 visa for 10 years.

I was working till last March 2012.However I am a housewife now and dependent on spouse income..

What are my chances of getting tourist visa and what documents should I have? Also, what should I be careful about?

In general, it is harder for young and unemployed person to get visa.

You can get a visitor visa showing your husband's income and profession
but your purpose , visiting husband's cousins, seems strange.

Do you have any direct relatives in US on your side?
If yes, show you are going to visit therm.
They will ask why you are going alome and they will ask about your children.

if not, you can plan a trip when your husband is going ( business or pleasure trip).
That will seem more natural.

Thanks for your reply. Both of us plan to visit her. She is a first cousin. Since both of us plan to visit her, What are the chances?

OK. Then it should not be difficult.

You can take a copy of your husband's visa, his income proof( bank statement, tax return),
his business card, an invite from his cousin, and copy of cousin's US visa.

They will ask you how long you will want to stay ( should not be too long; a few weeks at the m ost)
and who will fund the trip ( say husband). Also, they will ask who will take care of husband's work
while he is gone( if he is in job, show leave letter. If he is in practice, show a colleague taking care
of his practice.)
