  • Vistior Visa Non-Sponsored

    Hello,

My parents have a B2 visa interview scheduled for the end of this month. They are filling in the documents as SELF-SPONSORED . Please somebody let me know what are the required documents for SELF-SPONSORED visa, I want to make sure that they have all documents ready at the time of interview.

Also, is SELF SPONSORED a good idea ??

    HELP PLEASE !!

Self sponsored goes in your favor but for that you need to have strong income or savings.
In the absence of that, sponsorship from US also works provided they have good family ties in India.

Please post what your parents do and what is the family income ( roughly) .
If retired, do they get pension ( how much) and how much savings can they show?
Do they have any children in India?

"Hello, my parents are retired, it's been about more than a year .

Yes they both get pension , around 35k monthly total. Savings in terms of fixed property 2 houses and am not sure about the money, how much do you think is acceptable. Yes they have a daughter there, she is settled in India"

What are the supporting documents ?

      Thanks !!!!

About docs, they rarely look at them .

35 k pension is not enough for self funding ( there are no set criteria
but usually 1lac/month combined income is safe).
If they have large liquid savings like 25 lacs + they will have to volunteer that info
because they may not ask about savings.

For self funding; they can take their bank statement
showing savings and fixed deposits and pension.
If you decide to sponsor, send an invite with copies of your visa /passport
and I-134, bank statement, Tax returns.

All that said about funding, it is a secondary factor and the officer may not even come to it.
Primary issues are their retired status and no child living with them in India.
Another factor is your status in the US. If you are on a temp visa like H-1, L-1
they may have a better chance.
If you have a GC and are married and well settled in US, it may get more difficult.
(more likelihood of them not returning).
