Traveling to Canada from US

I am posting this question here as I was unable to get to talk to a living being @ the Canadian Consulate for an answer.

My parents (Indian citizens) are currently visiting me in US.
We plan to make a few days trip to Canada and need to get Canadian visitor visa for them.
Is this something that can be obtained from a Candian consulate?
or should they have gotten one from India before traveling to US?

Anyone with any recent experience willing to share their experinece will be greately appreciated.

You can get Canadian visitors visa from US itself.
