B2 or F2

Hi All,

I am on F1 visa and I applied for OPT, waiting for my OPT. I wold like to apply F2 for my wife, But I heard form few friends that F2 visa are not getting approved. can any one suggest me weather I should apply for dependent visa for my wife or visiting visa for her on my Grad walk.

What does she do at home country? I mean is she working ?
If working , what kind of job ( govt/pvt, temp/perm, salary?)
Do you have any kids ? Where are they?

How long have you been in US on F1?
Why did she not come before on F2 , why now when you have graduated?

For both F2 and B2 you need to show you will return.

Since you are recently married, the officer is not likely to believe that
she will just visit you on a B2 and return.
So , B2 is out.

With an F2, yes it all depends on the officer and your luck. She can try hers.

Just confirm, if she is eligible for an F2 while you are on OPT, I am not sure
of this.
