us visa no surname passport

we did not go to any agent or had any third party help BUT WE GOT OUR VISA FOR 10 YEARS with an interview lasting just 3 mins flat. Visa office did not look at a single document .... other than our passport.

we had a combined interview senior citizen father, myself, my wife and 2 kids

concerning DS 160 -- we are south indians -- ie no surname -- only first name and fathers name. In the DS 160 there is a confusion out here as to what shud be the GIVE NAME and what shud be the SURNAME.

see your passport

if the passport mentions given name but no surname YOU HAVE TO PUT GIVEN NAMES IN THE PLACE OF SURNAME IN THE DS160 AND PUT THE FIRST NAME AS : FNU.

example in my passport :
given name - Mahadevan, Rajesh
surname-- blank

in DS160 --
surname - Mahadevan, Rajesh
given name : FNU

(the call center guided us wrongly and i had to spend 3 hours correcting the same during OFC visit for finger printing --- PHOTOGRAPHS are taken at the OFC )

If you do not have surname (last name), you have to put your entire given name (first name) as the last name and put first name as FNU.
