  • Parents charged additonal fee of 3740 while applying for Visitor Visa

    Hi
My parents went for first time stamping of US visitor (B1/B2) visa stamping on 27 July 2005.
My father is government employee. So he was asked for NOC, which he showed.
The only thing they asked after that was finger printing and an additional demand draft of Rs 3740 in favor of American Embassy (My parents has to come back same day with demand draft ). This fees is in additon to Rs 4400,Rs 2200 and Rs 441 each/passport.

Then they kept Rs4400, Rs 441 and Rs 3740 demand draft and have told them they will contact in 4 weeks about their decision.

Has any of you /your parents gone through similar experience? Does any body know why this additional fees is being charged.

    Thanks

    Hi,
In some rare cases, when the Consulate wants to do some administrative processing, it is their procedure to ask for $85 or Rs.3740 to enable this administrative processing. If they are through with this process, they will ask you to send the Rs.2200 and passport by post, after which they will stamp it with the send it back. But on the other hand if they are not satisfied, they they will reject the visa. You may however write to them in case you don't hear from them.

              Hi,
You can also try writing to them at [email protected] with all the particulars like name, PP No., the date they attended the interview, and what took place at the interview. They might sometimes write back. If it is not the Chennai Consulate, then you can write to the respective consulate at their NIV Unit.
