  • Period of stay on DS-160 application form

    Hi,
My parents got an interview on monday. Though my parents will not stay that long, we have given 6 months in DS-160 application form at Intended Months of stay in US. Would this be a problem in issuing the visa? Can they mention 3months during the interview if VO asks 'how many days/months your are going to stay in USA?'
Should we say exactly what was put in DS-160?

6 months is too long for a visit and officers view it as someone not intending to come back.
They always ask this question about duration.
Recently they have introduced this system for updating your DS 160 even after you have submitted it.
But it is too late for that in your case.
So just pray the officer does not look at the 6 month entry and they should verbally answer 3 months.

And they match what you say with what is on DS 160.
Their eyes are constantly on the screen on the form you filled.

So, I suggest you change DS 160. Recently they have made this provision.
I agree fully. I learnt it hard way early this month. My mother in law's visa got rejected - I too had mentioned 6 months.
