  • What should my mom say?

    Hi,
my mom is having her interview in sep 2005 in chennai consulate. My husband is sponsering her.me and my husband are using EAD now and waiting for I 485 to get approved. If thewy ask my mom what is the status of the sponserer, what should she say? will it create any problem if sponserer is in that status?
I had seen many posts that low bank deposits may lead to rejection.
we recently bought house and we can't show very big bank balances. can we mention we own a property worth so and so and paying mortagages? Do the visa officers consider this or he just sees how much money we have in the bank?

    hi ms2005,
Lets see if by Sept u become LPRs. Otherwise she will have to mention your present status, whatever it is. Send in proof of employment - pay stubs, W2s, etc, to show that u have good and steady income, along with your I 134. Does your father already have a visa or is he not travelling? In her case it is of paramount importance how she is going o show her return back to India.

      Hi Veena,
Thanks for ur answer. My mom alone is going for visa and my dad is not coming and he is not having visa either.
just now i had seen in my husbands passport that his H1b visa is going to expire in oct 2005.As we need to send the copies of passport,do u think it matters?
But he has valid EAD with him.
can u pl give me the link where can I download sample letter to consulate?
      Thanks in advance

        Hi,
You need to mention your status as H4 pending I485. You can send the passport alongwith the EAD of your husband. But your mother should show the EAD if and only if asked by the consular officer. You have to be very careful as to what you put in the DS 156, and also take efforts to teach your mother all the facts, so that she can handle the interview efficiently.
