  • Passport with visitor visa lost

My 72 year old mother recently lost her passport with 10 year multiple B1/B2 (visitor) visa. Also, her visa was rejected twice before she got her visa the first time.

She's been into US 3 times with appropriate breaks.
    1. First Trip
    5 weeks

    2. Second Trip
After 5 months and stayed for 5 months

    3. Third Trip
After 9 months and stayed for 3.5 months

Based on the above information how easy or difficult will it be to get the visa again when she re-applies?

    Any information will be helpful.

She does not need to apply for a new one yet.

I hope she kept a copy of the visa .

You need to immediately contact the U.S. Embassy or consulate that issued your visa with the details.

Call them or write them an email.( look at the website of issuing embassy/consulate)

Yes, she has the visa copy and we have done all the formalities of informing the consulate, FIR and stuff like. She also has received her new passport.
Per the below link we have to apply all over again.

When you contacted the US consulate , what reply did they give you?
Usually, they can replace the old visa .

They did not say anything but acknowledged the receipt of email. Nevertheless, I have sent an email to them again to double check the process.

I received the response from US mumbai consulate saying that she will need to apply for a new visa.
Does anyone have similar experience? How easy or difficult will it be to get the visa again as I originally posted?
