  • Re-Entry as a Tourist

    Hello,

    A friend of mine is trying to re-enter as a tourist. She visited last summer, but we're not sure if she needs to have a proof of insurance when she gets here. Can anybody say for sure if that's going to be necessary?

    Travel health insurance is NOT mandatory to enter US as a visitor.

      Cool, and not that I don't trust you, but is there a link to maybe a State Department or Customs and Immigration website where they list what you need to bring upon re-entry?

        the website is cbp.gov

        I have been to US 5 times as a visitor and all they have ever asked is purpose and duration.
        No documents checked ever.

        If one's answers or previous immigration history points to one being a potential immigrant / offender
        they may check;

        1.Your air ticket -- you should have a round trip ticket and it should not be open.
        2.Documents proving purpose-- carry an invite from your US host or the business person whichever applies.
        3. Evidence of your ties back home ( job/vocation/family ties).
