  • Tourist Visa Renewal

    Hello All,

    I wanted your advice regarding the renewal of the tourist(multiple-ten years) visa. Here is a brief description of the scenario;

    My grandmother(who is 80+) was approved for a tourist visa from the period of October 2001-October 2010. She, had visited US for 5-51/2 months in 2008. She has one son in US as a citizen and her other son is in India. She also has land and property on her name. So, her visa is now expired and we are trying to get it renewed. According to the new system it says that we do not need to go in person to renew the visa, we just need to submit the paper work through the dropbox facility. I had few questions regarding the same;

    1) I wanted to know what supporting documents are needed for this renewal procedure?
    2) What are the chances of her getting the visa renewed?
    3) How long does it take for the whole process?
    4) Does she need to go for the OFC or personal interview?

    Please advise.

    Thank you

    *No, she will nothave to go for finger printing neither for the interview. Because she is 80+.

    *Please visit ustraveldocs.com/in/in-niv-visarenew.asp
    for procedure and documents.

    *Usually, a US citizen child in US automatically creates a presumption of
    immigrant intent. (Was her son a citizen in 2001 when she got the visa?)
    But some officers are lenient they may give it to her. No harm in trying once.

    *This does not take long 1-2 weeks max. The delay happens when a visa is placed under
    admin. processing.. 221g, which won't haappen because she is 80+.
