Hello,

I'm sponsoring my mother's visa. My mother's first name is different in her passport and mine (Last name is same).
As suggested in this forum, I'll prepare affidavit for the same.
But do I need to provide the name (which is there in my passport) in "Other Name" field in DS 160.
Also, all her documents (property papers,bank accounts) have the same name as mentioned in her passport

Hi All, Same issue I am also facing I.e. I am on L1 and planning to apply visitor visa for my mother. I just realized that Mother's name on my passport is different to the name in my mother's passport

On My Passport:
Name of Mother: YYYY YYYY XX (Middle Name & Surname)


On Mother Passport:
Surname: YYYY YYYY
Given Name: YYYY X YYYY XX(First Name & Middle Name)

Issue: On my passport, First name of my mother is missing and rest middle name and surname are same. Could you please help me out how to proceed further in order to apply visitor visa for my mother. is this objectionable or any alternate ways/affidavits' to be furnished. your guidelines and suggestions are highly appreciable.

Self Answering

Apart from preparing same and one persopn affidavit ,while filing ds 160, I had also mentioned my mother' diffrent name in "Other name" field.

They do not match the two passports for names.
Even if you do not send the parents' name page copy of your passport,
it would not matter.It is not a mandatory requirement.

Leave the "other name" blank.
