Is property/bank balance required?

My husband and I are working as software engineers in US. I am sponsoring my parents visit to US.

I have only one sister who is settled in India with two kids.

Do we need to show property/bank balance for my parents?

Yes, it is in their own interest to show all they have. Property, business, investments, everything.That will prove their ties to home country.

Inspite of you sponsoring....applicants do have to prove good asset/property value in home country. Many a visas have been rejected stating low income scales...or low bank balance & so on.

It is always good to carry copies of ur house papers...bank accounts....all the FD's or other investment documents they might have in India.

Not to mention..these do fall under the home-tie category.

One without a good financial background makes the consulate think that the purpose of visit might actually be to earn money here...as much as they can thru various illegal ways in their period of stay.

In your case..ur parents need to prove some really good evidence on home-ties..since u mentioned that u have only one sibling..and tht is a sister married off with kids. I hope u know that it is not really a plus point in getting a visa.

It might be of help if your father is still in service or working. Otherwise....it is all on luck..and the paperwork you show...plus ofcourse how confidently they convince the consulate that their purpose would be strictly tourism.
