  • Visitor Visa for Parents (Self-Sponsored trip)

    Hello,

I came to USA in Jan 2013 on L1 Visa and most likely I'll be going back in July. Meanwhile I would like to invite both my parents to spend the summer with me(1.5-2 months). My parents can sponsor their trip and they will be staying in my apartment here.

1)Do I still need to send an invitation letter to my parents and application letter to the consulate or my parents should write the application letter themselves.
2)Is there any template for the invitation letter when the trip is sponsored by the applicants themselves

    Appreciate any help regarding this.

    Thanks in Advance

There is no application letter. Yes, an invite on your letterhead (stating your job, visa status, salary)
is required to be sent to your parents, who will present it to the officer if asked. Also, send your L1 petition approval copy, passport with visa copy
    and I-94 copy.
No template. Just state that you are working in US on xxx position in xxx company drawing xxx salary, on xxx visa since xxx date.
You wish to invite your parents for 2 months for US sightseeing. They will be spending their own money and you will be providing them \
lodging at your apartment. The consulate/embassy is requested to grant them a visitor visa.

      Thanks for your response...

However my parents are retired but they have a steady source of income and financially quite well off... Is it a good idea that they sponsor themselves?

Since I came only in Jan I dont have enough balance in my US account to sponsor them. Can I show my Undia assets too if I have sponsor my parents??

      Appreciate your help regarding this...

10L + yearly combined income from all sources and or 20L + savings will do .

They ask about income and this question has to be answered smartly as this is a decision maker.

Thanks again for your prompt response.

Do I need to post the invitation letter or a scanned copy will do?

Do I have to create a Family application or it will be separate applications for both my parents?

For submittimg the fee do I follow the current consular rate? This expires on 5th April. If I try to schedule the interview now, most likely they'll get dates after 5th April. What if the exchange rates increase then?

Also do we need to submit the fee together for both applicants or separately?
