  • Applying for B2 after B1 was rejected

    Hi All

    I want to invite my sister to US, but 2 weeks ago her B1 visa form her employer was denied citing reasons that she had not spent enough time with her employer.
    Now I want to apply for B2. Is it too early ? Should I wait for sometime before applying again ? If so, for how long ?

    I am on H1B for last 5 years in US

    Thanks
    Prateek

    Yes, it is too early. It shows she is desperate to go and may not come back.

    OTher important factors;
    * is she married ? any kids?
    * how long has she worked with this employer and what is her salary roughly?
    * What is your visa status in US?
    * How long does she want to come to US for?

      No She is 28 yr old, unmarried, been with the company for last 1.5 years.
      She was planning to come over for a month.

      Any advise on the best way forward ?

        You have not mentioned her salary and your visa status in US.

        Both are important factors.

        Anyway, young and single people usually find it harder to get pleasure visit visas.
        Especially if their earnings are not so great and they have a GC/USC relative in US.
        Officers think the relative can provide them anchor in US.

        Adv;
        Her best bet is B1 ( business ) say at the end of the year or nex year.
        You have to be patient.

        Pleasure visit is very likely to be denied.
