  • Employment Details for B1 - Visitor for Pleasure

I am here in US for about 4 years and I am planning to Apply Visitor VISA for my Father and Mother ( 59 Years , 53.5 years).

My Father is involved in small business and do not have any papers for business like Bank Statement, Sales Tax , Income Tax etc.. Considering Sales Volume, He is not required to have sales tax etc.

He is partly retired and most of time he is at home and work is handled by my brother.

When requesting Appointment with Consulate and we need to provide Employment information.

    Question
We are not clear that whether we should mention as RETIRED or should show as Business? If we mention Business then we do not have sufficient papers to support as it is very small scale. If we mention RETIRE then I am not aware of implications.

We can mention as Unemployed but need inputs from Forum Members.

Please share your views on what should I do and advise.

    Thanks
    Shyam

If they cannot show much ties to their home country like a business or a
permanent job, it is hard to get the visa. I'd suggest you wait for a year
till he can get all the papers for his business in order.

For Social Ties :- Can my parents say

      1. My Grand Mother is in India, she is old and they have to comeback to take care of her.
      2. My 3 brothere and their families are there in India.

      For Business / Wealth

What is Your Opinion if We say - RETIRE... and show some wealth

      1. Bank Balance of 2 Lakhs.
      2. Affidavit for Ownership of Home
      3. Ownership of some Shares.
      4. Ownership of Tenancy Right.

My Father is also Power of Attorney holder for one of our Property. His Photo etc. appears on Registry as he signed registry on behlaf of my wife.

When Asked Income ... Should we mention Our Combine Family Income in India or only my parents income in India.

      Please advise.

      Thanks
      Shyam

If you want to risk it, you may have to send an I-134 with supporting
documents , if you want to sponsor the trip.

Income q ; when asked about their income they should only show
their own combined income not children's. Since he is retired, he should
show all his wealth and property to which he will come back.

Grown up children are not regarded as ties to India. Coming back to old mother may not be given much value. Financial ties(business/job) are more important.
