  • B2 visa for parents - Administrative processing

Hello. My parents went for B2 visa interview on 14th March 2013 at the new delhi embassy. The VO asked my dad about his profession and the company in which my dad works has the word 'Power' in it. So the VO asked if my dad's job is related to nuclear power. My dad said no as his job has got nothing to do with nuclear power. Then the VO just asked 1-2 qs more and asked my parents to go to another counter where the lady kept their passports and gave them 221g (white slip) and asked them to check the status after 2 days. She cancelled most of the top portion of the white form which had the list of documents needed leaving only the lower portion which talks about the administrative process and gives the case status number.
It's been 3 weeks but there has been no progress in the status. It still shows 'Administrative process'. Does anyone have an idea how long it has been taking currently for such cases to resolve. Or if someone has an opinion/experience that they got such case resolved earlier than the stipulated time frame of 8 weeks?

An early reply will be appreciated. Thanks!

    administrative processing

I have the same story my sister and b-i-law had an interview on feb. 4th, 2013 and when we check the status, it says issued and if we didn't anything in 10 days call or contact the related embassy. But when we inquire about that, they said it will take 60 days. And now I checked yesterday and I send them their email which says 60 days, they said it is still under processing. I have no idea how long it will take.
    Good Luck!

Hi, Parents Visa - Status Adiminstrative Processing to Issued. Here is my story

I applied for my Parents Visa Visitor Visa (I sponsered for it - I am staying for 15 Months in US).

On the day of interview there were not much question, same 3-4 questions and the VO asked all question to my dad and he answered.

VO said smiling your Visa is approved and you may go.

Came back happily and only to know in the evening. My Mom Visa is approved and Issued same day(I got the email acknowledgement).

My Dad Visa Status shows - Administrative Processing. - So confusion, worries and as usual i started google and contacted call center and read all lot of forum about people experience and the issues.

        Interview - 17/Mar/2015
Today - 19/Mar /2015 - Status showed issued and I got mail for my Dad too.

I think the below is the issue or delay caused.

My dad is retired TNEB Engineer. In the Job description, I mentioned as "GENERATING POWER", so i believe this is one of the NEGATIVE WORD HIT in their database. (i just googled out and added it myself infact)

So i am guessing they did all the analysis/may be some more verification and finally gave issued.

My Advise/2cents here - If your parent has worked in PowerGeneration/Military etc, be cautious when adding the Job description for him. Always go with plain simple engligh works which works well.

        Good luck.
