Transit Visa - Frankfurt

Hi

I am planning to travel India from Chicago in Air India flight. The flight stops in Frankfurt for fuelling. My L1 Visa validity is only till 1st Aug 2005. I have applied for Visa Extension and I have received my extension papers. I need to get stamped in India. Since I am travelling to India via Frankfurt I would like to know if I require a Transit Visa or not. Please share your experiences with me.
