  • Travel on B2 after a gap of 2 years

    Hi All,

My mother's B2 visa was approved way back in 2006 and she has travelled to USA four times in the last 7 years ( Jul 2006 , Sep 2008 , Sep 2009, Aug 2010 ). During her last POE , she was questioned for almost 30mins before the officer allowed her to enter US.

Now that am travelling to US on a long term on a L1A visa , am planning to take her along with me and would like to know if she will have any issues this time around as its been more than 2 yrs since she last travelled to US

    Response much appreciated.

NO, she should not face any isssues.
To be on the safer side, when they ask her the duration at POE, she should say a reasonable period like 3-4 months and not 6 months.

I assume the time interval between her departure on her 09 visit and reentry in aug 10 must be short , that is the reason she was interrogated.

In future, keep a long interval between her two visits and avoid applying for an extensions.

All this will have an impact on her renewal of B1/B2 when this one expires.
It is common for them to deny when they see a history of very frequent visits, long stays, and extensions on a previous visitor visa.
