  • silly mistake

    hello,
    i arrived in america (flew into los angeles) on the 29th of april where i got my i-94 stamped giving me until oct 28th to leave again. fine, i thought.
    since then i have been to canada for a little over two months (between 6th june and 14th august).
    i assumed (foolishly) that upon re-entry to the usa that i would be issued with a new i-94 for another six months, taken from the new date of entry, and because i assumed this i have got a flight booked for december 22nd (non-transferable and non-refundable), which is two months after my current i-94 expires.
    what options do i have? would crossing the border into mexico or canada (again!) for a couple of weeks be ok, or do the border control people tend not to admit people who do that sort of thing?
    also, and im only considering this, does overstaying the i-94 date have any major consequences?

    i know these are only trivial things really, but i am a lowly traveller and i dont really need the expense of having to get another flight home, or want to go back 2 months early because of a silly mistake.

    any advice, information or alternate options would be great,

    thanks

    dan

    I can tell you about overstaying the I-94 date part;
    it will make you illegal in US, and you could get into trouble with immigration if
    caught; And it will automatically make your currently valid visa void and you could only apply at your home country for another visa which will be hard to get once you have overstayed.
    There are a couple of horror stories posted here by people who went for an interview after an overstay.
