I had my US Visitors Visa interview at the Mumbai consulate today and was granted the Visa. Going to visit my sister and her husband and I am self-sponsoring. The lady interviewing me was very polite and asked only a few questions:
1. What do you do at your company - your role
2. How much do you earn annually
3. Why did u go to Japan (i had visited japan 2 years ago)
4. Other places you have visited for tourism
5. What does you sister do in US?
6. what does her husband do?
7. How much will this trip cost you?
(I mentioned a figure, for which she said 'that is almost half your annual salary". I replied that my husband was financing my entire trip)
8. what does your husband do? Is he coming with you? why not?
9. How much leave do you have from your company?
10. show me the leave letter from company.
Thats it. She didnt ask to see my sister's visa papers, nor any of our IT returns, pay slips, investments. The only document she took was the Company leave letter. At the end of these questions, she said I had got the visa and would receive it by courier. I dont know yet for how many years it has been stamped.
Thanks immihelp for your help and advice in this regard. It was invaluable. My advice after the interview is: Be calm and confident, look them in the eye and speak, know what you have written in the Application form and be truthful. Good luck!
