visa request for examination in US

Hi every one . I m new on this forum. I was planning for going to US for Step2 CS exam for doctors. So just wanted to know which visa category shall i apply under. Wud this be under Visitor B1/B2 visa or any other cat. Thanks in advance.

thanks alot. this would be a short duration duration visa may be for 3 mnths as it is for single exam. But as i want to go for observership also in hospitals, should i put this in front of visa officer. I have applied in various places but still waiting for acceptance. Advises would be really appreciated. thank u.

I think you should avoid mentioning observership both at the interview and at port of entry and just go with CS test.

Observership , strictly speaking, may not come under the purview of B1 visa and some entry officers could deny you admission
on mention of observership.

Note that duration of stay is granted at admission and is not dependent on the duration of the visa.
Even if you get a one month valid visa, you could still get a 3 or 6 month stay depending on your stated purpose at
admission.
