  • B2 Visa for Parents - Occupation

    Hi,

    I am in process of filling out DS160 for my parents. My mother is the proprietor of the business that my father runs. She is actually a home-maker. She does have income in shares, profits from the business but she has no duties in the business. In that case what should I show my mom as Working or Home-maker?

    Another question is do FD's count as a part of monthly income?

    Thanks,

    SD

    It is better to show her as a homemaker , because she does not have a role in running business.

    About income, they do not look at detailed documents . They will just ask your dad , what he does and how much he earns;
    his verbal answer will be enough>he can include his fd income in that answer. That said, if his income is good and he files a return
    he should carry his tax returns (most recent one is fine), just in case they ask .

    By the way, are you sending them an I-134?
