  • Help - Name different in Visa than in Passport

    Hi,
My parents had their interview in Chennai consulate on Aug. 23rd 2005 and Thanks to Immihelp have got 10 yr. Multiple Entry visa

The only problem is in my Mom's passport the name details aren't matching with the passport entries.

    Passport 1st page Name Details
    Surname : <blank>
    Given Name : <First name> <Last Name>

But, in her Visa name details as below.
    Surname : <First name> <Last Name>
    Given Name : FNU

Is it fine that the Surname & Given Name details are vice-versa between the Passport & Visa ? Also, what does FNU mean ? (is it "FatherNameUsed" ?)

Does this need to be corrected ? If yes, what is the process/procedure ?

    Can someone please help ?

    Thanks,
    Jayashree

This is correct. This is the standard procedure at Chennai.

    FNU = First Name Unknown

      Hi,
Thanks a lot for confirming this. I really appreciate it. Does my mom have to fill up all forms (I-94, Customs etc.) as per the Visa name or her Passport name ?

      Please let me know.

      Thanks,
      Jayashree
