  • Can my sister (with Visa) accompany my son to get a tourist visa?

I have a question, my sister and I and my son applied for a tourist visa last May. Unfortunately, me and my son (3yrs old) got denied since I am a single parent even if I have my business and work here. Luckily, my older sister got approved. My sister and her girlfriend (Singaporean) will head to the US this November and would like to bring my son with them. I planned to have my son's interview this July. What are documents needed and can my sister be the guardian to apply for my son? I don't want to reapply 'cause there's no changes in my status and just decided to stay here to look after my Farm and my boutique. Please help me! Thank you!

    Which country are you in?
Most places kids below 14 are initially not required to be interviewed.

In India, kids below 14 can use the drop box . And if they still get called for the interview, the parent(s) must accompany them to the embassy even if the parents are not applying.

In singapore, parent(s) need to appear for the interview on the kid's behalf, even if the parents do not wish to apply. Kids do not need to go.

So, if the kid must go for the interview, a parent has to be there, not an aunt.

I am from The Philippines. In the Philippines we no longer have the drop box. We are required for appearance at the embassy. Can my sister show up there with my son instead? Thank You!

Not your sister. You must accompany the child to the interview even if only child is applying.

OK. Thank You very much! What else are the requirements? Is it same with the requirements I brought along with me when we applied? Geez! I thought I'd be just staying at the hotel and wait for them but now I need to wake up early for the interview

I just realized the child is too young; they can deny saying how you can send a child so young to US with a relative.

So the child should apply when you apply too. If you have already applied, what can you do.

Yeah, I have thought about that too. We planned to let my sister and her girlfriend take him for just 2 weeks. I am now confused, even though my son is closed to my sister since he's the only child in our family (sister no kids). What can you advice me? I don't want to reapply just yet coz I might get the same result, maybe ill take some time or probably just apply next year. And, I already paid for the fee can I still use it next year if we won't pursue? Thank you again Peace!

Just call the visa application center in your country and ask them how to cancel and if the fee is re usable.

I haven't scheduled it yet and I know the payment is non refundable but can be use for a year. I'll just give some time to think about it but probably will try to apply next year before my son's visa fee expires. Just so hard to convince the officer when you're still single, can't blame them. Anyway, Thank You very much Peace!
