advance submission of documents at Hyderabad consulate - B2 Visa

My parents have biometric and Visitor ( B2 ) visa interview appointment next week. ( 06/30 and 07/01 ) . I would like to know if there is any need to submit the documents to the US consulate in advance . ( as I remember there is/was a rule to submit the documents in advance 3 days before the visa interview ) .

They should just take the docs with them at the interview.
The trend is they mostly make the decision without looking at any documents.
