  • Visitor visa for sister-in-law

    My wife (greencard holder) and I (us citized) would like to sponsor my sister-in-law for visitor visa. She is 31, unmarried, has her own business (started 6 months ago).. If we provided all the documentation for her visitor visa, what are the chances she will get it?

    Any help or tips would be great help.

    Thanks

    More important than your documentation are her ties to India .

    Mainly they look at spouse , stable job/business and good income .

    Young age, no spouse and new business will be negatives.
    Your stable status in US can also mean
    you can provide her a foothold in the officer's eyes if she cannot show ties to INdia.

    Can you post;
    *What was she doing before she started her business?
    *Roughly her income per year?
    *Nature of current business? is it small or is it big , no. of employees?
    *What is the duration she wants to visit US for?
    * Parents/siblings in India?

        If she had applied while in her 6 yr old job and 10 lac income , she would have very likely got the visa without even your sponsorship.

        But now she has a new business, it is not even 1 yr old to provide her with an annual income assessment.
        Plus more importantly, they would think why would she want to go on a vacation,
        leaving her new start up business that is only 6 months old .

        There is another thing she can do. travel agents need to travel abroad all the time,
        arranging deals with hotels etc. If she applies with that purpose, she can succeed, but
        her balance sheet should be reasonable for a start up.
