  • Permitted activity with B2 visitor visa?

I am British with a B2 tourist visa. My (American) wife and I own a house in USA which we visit regularly. The local Property Owners Association (a non-profit organisation) have asked me to join the Associations Board. This is voluntary, unpaid work helping to maintain the community. Am I allowed to do this with my B2 tourist visa?

It is advisable you not venture into this.
Even unpaid work on a B1 or a B2 status is restricted to charity / non-profit/churches etc.
In reality , no one will care if you do this. But if someone were to report you out of personal grudge or otherwise,
your status could be in trouble.

Thanks, I will take your advice and decline the offer.

Have you considered becoming a dual citizen (US + UK) thru
        marriage to your US wife?

With a US passport you can do all the activities you want in US while
        living in the UK.
