Deciding on visa interview location

I am currently on H1 visa,working in the US.I need to apply for B2 visa for my parents.
Paid visa fees in Mumbai(where parents stay)
No visa dates are available in mumbai until Aug 30th 2013, and so my parents are planning to take an interview date in Chennai sometime this month(They plan to come visit the US in Aug'13).

1-->Is this ok,I mean can we schedule for an interview at any location(stay in mumbai,interview in Chennai)?
2-->Do we need to submit any documents prior to the fingerPrinting/interview in Chennai? (I dint have to pre-submit @ mumbai,when i was applying for my visa)

Unless there is a specific reason why you would want them to come down in August itself, I would recommend that they should take their interview in Mumbai.

Unlike F1, B1, L1 or H1 visa where there could be a specific joining date compulsion for study or work, a month delay for B2 applicants should not be much of a problem.

If your parents decide to go to Chennai then they may be asked as to why they could not wait till end of August to apply in Mumbai. Do you have a strong answer for this?

I dont know how much you earn but let me also tell you that flight tickets in August are extremely expensive thanks to students travelling this time of the year. It may not be bad for them to wait till 30th August.

I think new dates for this month and next month are available for B2 visa. Check for them online or call their call center to check availability.
