  • Questions regarding visitor visa

    Hello,

I am new to this forum. I am a visual artist and I like to travel to USA to visit my sister, a friend and to attend a workshop and visit two textile museums. In the past, I have travelled to USA on student visa and returned on due time. However, my problem is I recently lost my job and I am single.

What are the possibilty of getting Visitors visa if i have the following documents:

1] sponsorship letter from my sister who is a us citizen
2] invitation letter from my friend who is born and brought up in america
3] letter from the organisation where i want to attend the workshop
4] my travel plan which will include stay with my sister, my friend, visiting museums and attending workshop

All the above point to reasons for you to go to US. What officers would be looking for are reasons for you you to come back.

Do you have any strong reason to come back from US? Such as family ties, good job? studies to complete? If not then you have limited chances.

This is my opinion not legal advice.

Is it possible for me to emphasis my past record of visiting USA and returning to my home country, my career as a teacher in central univeristy, record of my art exhbitions so as to establish my intentions for visiting usa and to gain credibility?

Raghvi is correct. ties to home country are very important . The ties they mainly look for are spouse, children and a stable occupation with strong income.
Single people do get visas but then they do show a stable occupation and good income to return to.

I strongly suggest you show some form of employment ( even self -employment will do ) for some period before you apply.
If you have your own house/apt , that will be another plus.

The points you mentioned in your second post are secondary .

By the way what is your nationality?

Thank you for your replies. Sorry for asking too many questions. I just want to make sure about the possibilities and then decide to apply or not apply for a visitors visa to usa.

Only recently I am jobless. But past two years I had decent job and a decent salary. Does that count?

            Please advice.

I am afraid a past job will not count.

They would look for a strong reason for you to come back . What would yours be? They generally dont ask this directly and infer only from the Q&A. Well one can convince them that you are just taking a in between job breaks and would come back to join, but for that you should have a job offer on hand which pays good (somewhere above 1 Lakh INR per month would be considered good).

This is my opinion not legal advice.

I will give you real life advise. The above things you mentioned are not grounds for a Visa. Those items you mentioned are for customs when you arrive in U.S. with a visa. Others are correct. You will need ties to your country that you will come back. Bottom line its money, you will need to show you have substantial ties like real estate, money in bank, family business, etc. Good luck to you.
