  • At the consulate

    Dear All,

I am planning to invite my mother on visitors visa to US. I have gone through all the list of documents which I need to send and my mom needs to arrange there.

But my question is.. while you carry the documents to the interview do you need to seperate them out (like sponsors documents and visitors documents) and hand them over to the officer or how does this work at the consulate during interview? I am about to send her all the documents over this week.

    Thanks a lot,
    Arun

Your mother will have to answer some qs when she faces the consular.
Only if the consular is satisfied with the answers will he/she ask for a
specific document (like your visa status in US). She should keep the
documents handy and present the one that is asked for.

      thanks for the info TACO..

My younger sister lives with my mother and my elder sister got married lives in India too.. how to prove these facts to the officer. We have the marriage certificate from my elder sister and birth certificates of all three of us.. will these help or need any other proof? My mom is employed in an ex-gov company whihc was recently privatized...

      thanks

She can carry all the birth certificates. It does not normally come to proving relationships in India but she may be asked to prove relationship with you, the host in US. There are other important issues to prove, like your mom's employment status ( a leave cum employment letter from her company will be required), and her financial status (her salary slips, tax returns, savings statements ).
