  • Inviting parents for gradwalk

    Hello everyone,

I am planning to invite my parents for the gradwalk and also get them the multiple entry visa(say more than 3 years). I am on F1 and not employed anywhere as of now. But I will be sponsoring the visa and showing the bank balance around $15000. My husband is on H1B for more than 5 years(He wont be able to provide the documents or sponsor letter for some reason).
    Other factors -
    1. 2 younger siblings - unmarried.
    2. Govt job
    3. Not able to sponsor on his own due to some money liquefaction problem.

1st and 2nd points might help in getting them the visa, but I will be sponsor. So what are the chances of them getting the visa ?

    Thanks

Chances would mostly depend upon their ability to convince that they will return.

      Thank you.

I have 2 more questions here.

      a. My university has made a new rule saying that there will be no invitation letter sent from the university. So if I send the informal/casual invitation letter along with my admission letter, I-20, transcripts would that be sufficient ?

      b. I have just $15000 in my bank account. Is that okie?

You, unemployed with $15000 balance, funding your parents' trip is NOT ok.
The next best thing would be your hubby funding.
Since you say that is not possible , the best would be parents showing self funding.

What is their combined income roughly? Usually the visa officers decide the funding part on their income.

They can show some proof of you graduating .Anything would do, a formal invitation is not mandatory.
Also send them copies of your visa and ur passport F-1 stamp.

Also, NOC and leave from govt job is mandatory.

Thanks for the reply. I would think about it.

Has anyone here in the forum with this experience/situation ?
