  • Should 13 year old appear for B2 visa interview

My niece is 13 years old and applying for visa with us. Will she have to go for visa interview with us or not.

Less than 14 she can apply through drop box ( no interview) , but many times they call drop box applicants ( including kids) for interview later.

So , to save later trouble, take her with you to the interview.

One more thing I want to ask. Does POE decide about total time of stay based on itinerary or not. Suppose I say in interview 2-3 weeks so what are the chances at POE. My friend applied and she got 6 months. On what base they grant the stay period?

There is no connect between what you say at the interview and at the POE (unless the embassy puts a special note on the visa, in which case
the POE will act looking at the note).
If you are a first time visitor for pleasure, they usually give you 6 months irrespective of what you say.

For frequent visitors they look at past stays, interval between visits and the purpose.
