  • Accompany with B1 or get a Sponsorship from my brother

Hi - I am flying for a conference and would like to take my wife and 18 months kid with me to the US. I have done my masters and worked on H1 and have B1 currently and occasionally travel every 18 months.

Is it suggested that she tell the consultate that she wants to travel with me to see the country or get a sponsorship from my brother who is staying in US for past few years.

    Thanks.

No. Sponsorship from anyone in US is a negative.

She should show that she is accompanying you and you will be funding the trip.
She will have to take your visa copy and your income proof with her to the interview.

Thank you for the reply. Does telling that the company is sponsoring the trip help? They are willing to sponsor the trip.

Yes, sure. She should take a letter from the company that they are funding the trip for both ofyou.

Still, she must take your visa copy and proof of your employment and income.

Which is safer? Taking a letter from company that they are sponsoring or showing that we are looking to do it personally from our funds. The company is not that big but I have my B1 from the same company.

          Thanks.

I think it does not matter, if you got your visa on the company's moderate strength, your wife can get it too.

If your income is very good, you can opt for that too.

Thanks for your reply. I very much appreciate all the help we get it in the forums.

Quick question. As I am just going for a one week event and then 3 weeks pleasure, what answer should my wife give when we are asked why would a company sponsor for the 3 weeks pleasure? Or should we just say that for the first one week, company would do it (tickets and one week hotel) and the rest, we would do it on our own.

Does it sound good? I do not want VO to start doubting why would a company sponsor for our pleasure trip.

              Thanks.

                When in doubt, don't.

She can say you are spending and show your income proof . that way there is no problem at all.
