Getting medicines from India

My parents are coming from India on a tourist visa for 6 mths. They are diabetic and need to get their diabetic medicine along. They will need to get around 350 strips of tablets to last them 6 mths. Could someone please let me know if the US immigration will allow this through or we need some sort of a prescription from their india doc.
If it is not allowed could you please suggest alternatives.
