  • Language of Interview - For B2, Does it matter

Hi - my wife can speak little bit of English. She can express it but there would be some grammatical mistakes I'm planning to apply for B2 in Hyderabad, India. I have a B1 and am going for an event. I want to take her with me for 4 weeks.

Though she has traveled to other countries before, she is a bit concerned about not understanding their accent and if she by mistake expresses an answer wrong.

My question is does it really matter in determining. She is a homemaker and I am not sure if her inability in speaking can be seen as a potential immigrant.
    What is suggested ?

    Thanks.

Language is not a barrier for getting a Visa so she must select a language she is comfortable with. For this very reason Consulate has kept the option of selecting "language of interview".

Language is not the Eligibility Factor

Well, Please dont worry about the Language. She can apply in the language that she is comfortable in. However, If they ask how would she manage once she gets there, she can always say she knows little english or you are accompanying her. What matter is that she needs to convince the officer that she has strong ties in India and she would return...thats my experience so far at the HYD consulate....I was denied in english but approved in URDU though am actually good at english, so its all about how you answer at the interview and convince the officer....so wish you gud luck

I am sending my parents for their interview and I selected hindi as language. Will they be peovided interpreter or they have to ask for interpreter in the consulate ? Location is mumbai .
Because my wife appeared for her f2 visa at delhi consulate few months back and the langauge I have selected hindi but she was not provided any interpreter. And the interview was in english though she knows little english so not a major issue.
So wondering parents will be provided interpreter or have to ask for one. They r not good at english.

I think interpreters would be provided for visitor visa applications. For all the applications opted for telugu language in Hyderabad have got interpreters.
