  • DS 160 Help needed !!!

Hey I have filled my parents DS 160 and in the visa category I have selected B1/B2 instead of just B2. They are just coming to visit me .I have already submitted ds160 and have confirmation letter..Does this will create any issue during interview. I have not paid the fees for interview yet. Is there anyway I can amend the current DS160 and fill out a new one ???

One more query My father owns a business. So in Primary Occupation : I have selected Business.
After that it in next field it asks for ---- Present employer/School: What should I write in that fields. Since he is currently running his own business. and about the education it asks on next page. Please help....

On the next page it asks for for work history and education -- Previous employer/school. My father has worked his whole life in his business. I can mention school he has attended.

Which is the good option I sponsor my parents or they sponsor themselves. ? and if I do how much bank balance I need to show ?? around 20K is that enough ???

U.S. NIV Applicants from India May Now Update DS-160 Info

The new visa application system, introduced in India in September 2012, requires nonimmigrant visa (NIV) applicants to create a profile after completion of the DS-160 form, and to generate the payment code to remit the visa application fee. Next, they must schedule the visa interview. In its original form, the system did not allow the applicant to modify the confirmation code provided by the Consular Electronic Application Center (i.e., the CEAC code). This CEAC confirmation code is generated as evidence of submission of the DS-160 online. Recently, the system has been improved to permit primary applicant/s to provide a new CEAC confirmation code, generated by submitting a new DS-160.

This modification can be effected only up to midnight preceding the biometrics appointment. The code cannot be modified for any dependents added to the primary applicant's profile. For example, if a husband, wife, and child apply for a B-2 visa as a family, and the father is the primary applicant and adds the wife and child to his CEAC profile as dependents, the CEAC confirmation code can be modified only for the father in this example. An applicant may need to modify the confirmation code if s/he discovers any mistake on the DS-160 after Signing and Submitting the same.

    -------------------

work/education.... education is for people who have never worked and are students. for business write self employed businessman and give address of
business , both in current and in past work.

self funding is always better.. but he must have strong income for that like 10-12 lacs per year or strong savings if he is retired.
if that is not the case, you can sponsor, you must also show good income in US like $40 k +

      Thanks !!
      Just another Query
After occupation field it directly asks for the Present employer/education.
      For ------ Primary employer/Education : Should I write about my father's business ?
and For ----- Previous Employer/Education: Should I write about his current business or I can write about his education ?

Like I mentioned in my previous post, education is for people who are students and who are not working and/or never worked.

For your dad, he has to mention his business in both primary and past columns.

Do you have any siblings back in India, that will help.

And IT returns and ownership of business also helps.

Regarding your question on B1/B2 visa category, this is not at all a problem. I have sponsored for 3 parties and I have selected B1/B2 for all of them. This is FYI

The DS-160, also known as the Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application form, is used to apply for a temporary visa to visit the United States for tourism, business, medical treatment, or other temporary purposes.
