Buy american insurance as they will be honored good at US hospitals.
Indian insurance you may find problems at US hospitals.

I had a bad experience with Bajaj Allianz Travel Insurance while travelling to USA

      Hello,

On my last visit to the US, i had purchased Bajaj Allianz's policy for some couple of thousand rupees. I suddenly developed a Tooth Ache and got myself checked with a local doctor in California.

The ordeal started when i called Bajaj Allianz's international helpline to enquire about reimbursement. Bajaj Allianz told me that they will not reimburse if the Dental Care expense is below $100. Mine was a check up which costed $50, so this was not reimbursable. Further, the Dentist advised an extraction if the tooth continued to bother me. As a preventive measure, i called up Bajaj to check the procedure if i went ahead with an extraction (which was for $200).

They told me if i had to reimburse the extraction, i will have to furnish the following:
      a) Passport Copy - With the entry stamp of USA and exit stamp of India clearly legible
      b) Air ticket copy
      c) Treatment invoice copy
      d) A letter from the Dentist explaining my case
      e) Copy of any X Rays etc

      Further regular documentation:
      a) NEFT Form for my bank details
      b) Cancelled cheque from me

I was so disgusted to get this list of documents. To purchase this Insurance Policy from Bajaj Allianz, i did not even give a single document. I handed over cash to my travel person and the policy was issued. To reimburse a bonafide expense, they gave me a list of documents. All this after not allowing the insured person to claim first $100.

I seriously felt this was not worth it.

Maybe all Insurance companies are the same, i am only sharing my extremely disappointing experience.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,

There is no such thing as cheapest and best. What you pay is what you get.

I suggest that you go through various US based insurance plans at https://www.insubuy.com You will be able to get the instant quotes from various products, compare them side by side and make an instant purchase online.

Thank you for posting your detailed experience.

Buying from US based company is clearly preferable compared to buying from India based company. Please read more at https://www.insubuy.com/visitors-ins...ia-comparison/

Many people end up buying from travel agent who does not have any insurance knowledge and has never been to the US and has no idea how the healthcare system works in the US.

Do you buy car insurance from your car dealer? Do you buy home insurance from your home builder? Then, why should you buy travel insurance from travel agent?

You should purchase insurance from a licensed insurance broker, who offers multiple products from multiple companies and works in your best interest who will explain different products to you and suggest you the most suitable one for you, rather than just taking your money, saying "sign here" and that's it.

Moreover, people expect "cheapest and best" which is not possible.

Therefore, I suggest that you should contact us at (866) INSU-BUY for purchasing visitors insurance. We are licensed brokerage company in Plano, Texas and everyone that answers phone calls is an experienced and licensed insurance agent.

            Bad Experiance with Bajaj Allianz

Never go with Bajaj Allianz Bike Insurance.

I renewed my bike( Pulshar 135) Insurance on 7th Nov 2013.

Mistakenly customer executive has filled my bike registration number wrong. When I tried to Bajaj Allianz customer care( 1800-22-5858, 1800-102-5858, 1800-209-5959) to correct the registration number, there was nobody to listen me. I contacted Bajaj Allianz Customer Care many times but there is no response from it’s CC centre.

Still I also didn’t receive my policy document at my address. I made the payment through online.

Now I am feeling like cheated by Bajaj Allianz.

            Never go with Bajaj Allianz

The only way to get 'cheapest and best' travel insurance is to not travel at all. It is cheapest because it does not cost you and it is the best because you will not need to file any claims. :-)

But if you have to travel follow the above advice.
This is my opinion and not legal advice.
