  • Widow Mother's Visitor visa- can additional Canada trip help?

    Hi,

Before I post my question, I'll give a little back ground.

I am Single and working in a IT company. I stay in NY for past 1.5 years.
Now I am thinking of inviting my mother to US and stay with me for 2-3 months. She is a widow and retired from Govt work 2 years ago. She has her pension for around 30k per month and FD (6-7 lakhs) to prove for self funding. I have some savings and I can also send a sponsor affidavit.
She has traveled to Singapore to visit my cousin's family and from there to Malaysia as well.

From various threads, I find that a widow & retired mothers have less chance of getting approved for visitor visas.
My uncle (my mother's brother) has moved to Canada with family long back and they all are Canada Citizens. They are ready to sponsor for Canada visit for my mother.

    1) Shall we apply a Canada Visa first and then apply for US visitor visa. That will give chance to say she will visit her brother and since I am near by (Toronto and NY), she will visit me in that same trip.
    2) Should I sponsor her for the whole trip or only the part form Canada to US?

You are right widows + retired is a bad combo for a visitor visa. Yes, you could try the canadian visa first , it could improve her chances.
But Do you think canadian visa officers decide differently than american officers?

Also, her income/savings are not enough for self funding. You should sponsor. You do not have to specify from where to where in the form.
Just show good income and enough savings.
