  • What went wrong?

I recently attended the interview at U.S. consulate as I am going to attend
conference. But the consular didn't look at the single document of mine
which I do understand that he is well experience in this field and
sometimes they don't look at documents.
But my question is that he asked me only two question i.e. What is your
salary? and Is there any relative in United States.
I sincerely replied that my salary is XYZ that was recently increased after
filling the D-160 form and I also replied to the second question that I
don't have any relative in U.S.(I have my own sister in U.S. who sent me
invitation letter to attend her convocation day, but she had already left
U.S. and is living in Canada). But I was not given an opportunity to
explain these. Do you think that I am rejected because of this?
Please guide me so that I can reapply to attend the conference which is
    scheduled on October.

      Hello, Gyalrab.

There is no certain way to predict the outcome of the interview. Yes, there are certain things about the profile of the applicant that make the interviewer feel positively about the case. Those factors are: 1) Education, 2) Financial Position - Salary (around a Million INR Annual), 3) Marital Status, 4) Travel to other countries, 5) Working in which company, 6) Ties to India.

I am sorry, your petition was declined. Try to approach your profile in the light of the above mentioned points. I hope it helps.

      Wishing you luck.

      Cheers,
These are my personal thoughts. I am not a professional.

      Wishing you luck.
